Coronavirus: Auckland Countdown Store Closed After Covid-19 Patient Visit

Another Countdown store in Auckland was closed and received a deep cleaning after being visited by a person who tested positive for coronavirus.

On its website, Countdown said that its New Lynn store inside LynnMall in West Auckland had been closed on Tuesday.

The person who tested positive for the virus visited on Friday, September 4, from 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“The health and safety of our customers and equipment is our highest priority,” Countdown said.

“We have a variety of security measures in place, including additional cleaning, methacrylate screens in the box, and physical distance. We are also strongly encouraging our team and customers to wear masks when in our stores. “

Countdown said the New Lynn store closed immediately after the Auckland Regional Public Health Service notified it of the person’s visit.

The news comes as the Health Ministry reports six new cases of the virus in New Zealand.

Four of the new cases are in the community and have been linked to the current Auckland August group and the Mount Roskill Evangelical Fellowship sub-group.

Other Countdown stores that were visited by people with the virus during August were in Browns Bay, Te Atatū South, St Lukes and Auckland City.
