They were transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility, the Jet Park Hotel.
Twelve previously reported cases are now considered to have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of active cases to 44.
Of the active cases, 30 are newcomers who were detected the infection at MIQ facilities and 14 are due to community transmission.
Seventeen people are currently in isolation at the community quarantine facility, including nine people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and their household contacts.
As of Wednesday, a person is hospitalized with the virus. The patient is isolated in a general ward at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland.
Since August 11, the ministry’s contact tracing team has identified 4,073 close case contacts, of whom 4,073 have been contacted and are self-isolating or have completed self-isolation. This number has decreased since Tuesday as the records were identified as duplicates in the system.
New Zealand has recorded 1,480 confirmed cases of the virus in total.
On Tuesday, the labs processed 4,969 tests, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 960,559.
“While the spread of COVID-19 is slowing down, we can all take care of ourselves and our communities by washing our hands, cleaning high-contact surfaces, and practicing good cough and sneeze etiquette,” the Ministry of Health reiterated in the Wednesday’s statement.
“If you are unwell, you should avoid contact with other people and seek the advice of your healthcare provider or Healthline.”
On Monday, the Cabinet will review the current configuration of the country’s alert level. Auckland remains under level 2 restrictions, while the rest of New Zealanders enjoy their ‘new normal’ at alert level 1.
Any changes made by the Cabinet in the alert levels will not take effect until Wednesday, October 7.

There are now 2,285,600 registered users of the Government’s official contact tracing technology, the NZ COVID Tracer app.
The app has logged a total of 79,195,293 poster scans and users have created 3,443,349 manual journal entries since the add-on feature was released.
