87 close contacts were identified from the three classes the person who tested positive attended, all of whom were contacted and self-isolating, Pearless said.

Of that number, 85 people tested negative, while two did not record any results.

The infected person attended a sprint class at 5.30 pm and Body Combat at 6.15 pm on Wednesday, September 9, and Body Combat between 9 am and 10.15 am the next day.

Another 91 of the casual contacts had been tested and returned negative results.

“The Auckland Regional Public Health Service has told us that these numbers will continue to change as follow-up calls are made and more information is collected and evaluated in their investigations.”

All instructors who took the Les Mills classes received negative test results.

“While we don’t have all the results yet, it appears that physical distancing, class boundaries, deep cleaning, antiviral fogging, and the other active measures we have put in place have helped keep the virus at bay,” Pearless said.
