The glamorous world of entertainment is not without its tragedies. We review one of the weirdest murders in recent years of a young singer killed by an obsessed fanatic.
YouTube star Christina Grimmie was on the verge of success when her life was cruelly cut short.
In 2016, the 22-year-old pop star was shot dead by fan Kevin Loibl while signing autographs after a concert in Orlando.
Her tragic death made international headlines and it was discovered that the man who killed her received hair plugs, underwent laser eye surgery and went vegan, convinced that the couple would marry.
Loibl had tried to transform into a pretty boy in a delirious attempt to conquer the songbird, his Best Buy Geek Squad colleagues told TMZ.
The website reported that she underwent a hair transplant and laser eye surgery, as well as dramatically changing her diet to lose weight.
Loibl reportedly promised his co-workers that they would tease him for his crush on the singer that he would one day marry Grimmie, who rose to fame first on YouTube, and then in the sixth season of the show. singing talents, The Voice.
And he told them he went to one of their concerts in March, and hinted that he met her there. He also claimed that he played online games with Grimmie, which a source told TMZ that was not true.
The killer was apparently infuriated when he was shown photos of Grimmie with producer Stephen Rezza, possibly her boyfriend TMZ reported.
His obsession turned indescribably violent when he shot and killed the talented 22-year-old singer after a concert.
He then shot himself fatally after he was boarded by Grimmie’s brother Mark.
Grimmie’s Voice coach Adam Levine offered to pay for his funeral, while judges Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton took to Twitter to share their condolences.
Later that month, Justin Bieber burst into tears on stage during a show in Canada, while performing a song dedicated to the late singer.
Carrying out his ballad purpose, Bieber sang: “Thinking that my journey has come to an end.
“Send a farewell to my friends, peace forever … I am more than grateful for the time we spent, my spirit is calm.”
Bieber stifled his tears and said, “Grimmie, can you hear me?”
Bieber reportedly met Grimmie, who finished third in the sixth season of The Voice in the United States, through his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, whose stepfather served as the late singer’s manager.
Gomez also paid tribute to Grimmie on stage during a stop on the Miami tour, wiping away tears as he performed a cover of the Hillsong Transfiguration song in honor of his late friend (Grimmie supported Gomez on his We Own the Night tour in 2011).
“When I was 14, we met her and my parents and I signed it,” said Gomez, her voice cracking with emotion.
“One thing about Christina and her family is that she keeps her faith very close to her. And I think it is not about a religion and it is not about anything or good deeds.”
Gomez continued to cancel her own encounter and greets fans for fear of their safety.
