Armed police today raided a gang’s headquarters on the South Island in connection with the death of a man at Christchurch Hospital.
Police launched a homicide investigation today.
Detective Sergeant Major Joel Syme said police were notified of a man taken to Christchurch hospital this morning with critical injuries. Later he died.
The Herald learned that armed police raided the Mongol gang’s headquarters on the South Island tonight.
Investigators were searching the property in connection with the homicide investigation.
Earlier, several officers were outside the emergency department at Christchurch Hospital on Riccarton Ave.
They were monitoring a white Mercedes car with no license plates that was later towed from the area.
