The chasing Star Mark Labbett says he feels “guilty” about his weight loss.
Labbett recently revealed that he lost 63 kg in one year. The Beast, as he is known on the show, has made no secret of his weight loss journey, sharing regular posts on social media showing how he has changed in weight.
However, he has now spoken on BBC radio about how life locked up was “stressful” and that he did not “consciously” decide to lose weight.
He revealed that he had been busy caring for his three-year-old son while his ex-wife Katie Labbett, who works as a nurse, was on the front lines.
Labbett was asked if his type 2 diabetes diagnosis was what prompted him to lose weight.

“It wasn’t the driver, I feel guilty for saying it. I did not do it consciously.
“It was the combination of the stress of the confinement. I think it was a change in my medicine,” he said.
“I got a better diet with a muscle food company that was providing me with protein.
“I think the most important thing was that I had to take care of my son while my wife was a nurse on the front line. And taking care of him 24/7 almost killed me.
“At the end of the day, I was exhausted. I think that was one of the reasons why I would collapse into a heap instead of having a 7 or 8 pm snack. “
In early March, Labbett explained that his weight loss had helped him see big differences in his daily life.
“This is the lightest I have been in 25 years. Now I am under 20 kilos (127 kg) and I really feel the difference as well as seeing it.
“My knees really feel the difference. I will never be athletic again, but I move so much better for not carrying that extra weight. “
