A Bunnings Warehouse staff member was stabbed during an alleged robbery attempt in East Auckland.

A man entered the hardware store on Botany’s Ti Rakau Drive around 6 p.m. Thursday, Manukau Counties Detective Inspector Chris Barry said.
The man allegedly stabbed a staff member with a knife before demanding money.
A colleague of the victim intervened and detained the man until police could arrive, Barry said.
Both the victim and the alleged stabber are at Middlemore Hospital in stable condition.
“Our investigation is ongoing and charges will be filed,” Barry said.
Bunnings director of human resources Jacqui Coombes said she was working closely with police.
“Our top priority is the well-being of all our team members involved.
“We thank our team for the way they worked together to handle such a challenging situation.”
