A boy driving a scooter was taken to hospital after an alleged hit and run in Christchurch.
A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called for a report of an accident between a car and a person riding a non-motorized scooter at 3.22 pm Hay St, Bromley.
Kimberley McKinlay was driving down Hay St when she saw a boy lying on the side of the road with a bus driver helping him.
McKinlay said he stopped his car and offered him blankets. The boy had scratches and what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder.

The boy told him that he was in the middle of the street trying to cross when they hit him.
McKinlay said the driver of the bus who was the first to arrive at the scene told him the driver of the car that struck the boy was driving erratically moments before the accident.

He said the car passed the bus on Hay St and then tried to turn onto McGregor’s Rd, where it struck the boy.
The bus driver had video footage of the accident, McKinlay said.
She said her “heart sank and she felt sick” when she was told the boy was the son of a friend.
The boy’s mother was “very distraught” about the accident, he said.
He urged the person driving the car to go ahead.
St John’s spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance took a moderately ill patient to Christchurch Hospital.
Police were trying to find the driver and were continuing to investigate, the police spokeswoman said.
