A child is in critical condition after being hit by a car in an East Auckland school parking lot this morning.
Emergency services are at the scene of the accident at Pigeon Mountain Elementary School on Wells Rd, Bucklands Beach.
A spokeswoman for St John Ambulance said the boy had been taken to Starship Hospital with critical injuries.
Pigeon Mountain Elementary School confirmed that a boy had been injured in an accident on a road leading to the school.
In a Facebook post detailing the accident, school board president Mark Eades said the injured student had been taken to hospital and that “our thoughts are with the family.”
The team of specialists from the Ministry of Education who would provide support to students, staff and the community.
Two ambulances and two rapid response units were called to the scene of the accident around 8.40am. M.
St John treated a patient who was in critical condition.
Fire and Emergency NZ confirmed they were at the scene of an accident involving a car and a pedestrian.
A police spokesman said that at 8.40am, police were notified of the accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a child, was in critical condition and was being taken to hospital.
The Serious Accident Unit was notified and will examine the scene. He said the board had contacted the Ministry of Education team of specialists who would provide support to students, staff and the community.
