A body has been found in a bush near a park in western Auckland.
Officers are in an area on Epping Rd in Henderson, with some dressed in white suits and breathing apparatus.
Police confirmed that a body was found at a location near Epping Esplanade.
Detective Sergeant Major Tim Williams said the body was found this afternoon.
The discovery is believed to be related to a missing person.
“However, until the formal identification processes are completed, we cannot confirm this.”
Identification is expected to take some time, Williams said.
The scene has been cordoned off and a police guard will remain overnight.
Police had “serious concerns” about Henderson’s missing man
Waitematā police said yesterday they had serious concerns about a Henderson man who had been missing for three months.
Calvin Lindsay Wicksteed’s family last found out about him in January and recently reported him missing.
The 59-year-old man “was known to frequent the Henderson area, but his recent whereabouts were unknown,” a police statement said.
Wicksteed was described as 175cm tall, slim build, with straight dark brown / gray hair.
It is not known whether today’s discovery is related to the disappearance of Wicksteed.
