A body was found inside a burning car in a park in Auckland, and police will release a detailed examination of the scene this morning.
Emergency crews rushed to the vehicle fire in Barry Curtis Park on Chapel Rd in Flat Bush in the southeast of the city around 8:10 p.m. Saturday.
“Initial reports indicate that there may be a body in the vehicle,” police said.
Police set up a blue forensic tent over the car last night and a detailed investigation and examination of the scene will begin this morning.
There were curbs on Chapel Rd and Ormiston Rd, and Stancombe Rd and Chapel Rd.
A photographer at the scene said police were working together with their specialist search party, and officers searched the scene with torches.
“A large section of Barry Curtis Park was cordoned off with police tape, with officers blocking the entrances.
“The scene is locked in, and law enforcement confirms that an examination of the scene will take place [on Sunday]. “
