Perth Scorchers blaster Colin Munro is not a fan of the BBL’s bonus points rule, saying it ruins the show once teams are out of the race to win a match.
The Scorchers achieved their second straight victory Sunday when they crushed the Melbourne Renegades by 96 runs in front of 25,101 fans at Optus Stadium.
Despite the uneven nature of the result, the Forsaken took the Bash Boost bonus point after improving Perth’s score to the 10-plus mark.
The Scorchers were 63-2 after 10 overs, while the Renegades were 71-8.

It meant the Scorchers walked away from the game with just three points, instead of four.
Munro, who is one of the most experienced T20 cricketers in the world, feels that teams put most of their focus on securing the bonus point rather than securing victory if they suffer an early batting collapse.

“I’m not a big fan of that point to be honest because once a team is out of it, it’s not a great visual spectacle for the guys at home or even for the fans to watch the guys go out and try to get that point. “said the New Zealand international.
“It would be nice to see those games a little deeper and a little further and for the teams to be given every opportunity to win the game.”
Munro returned to form against the Forsaken, breaking five sixes en route to recording 52 runs on 31 balls.
He needed just 24 balls to reach his half century, the fifth fastest in Scorchers history.
Josh Inglis continued his recent purple streak with 72 unbeaten on 41 balls, while Aaron Hardie (2-10 in two overs), Jason Behrendorff (1-13 in two) and spinner Fawad Ahmed (2-5 in 2.5 overs) all produced strong contributions with the ball.
The Scorchers are now just two points behind fifth place and will play their next three home games, starting with Wednesday’s clash with the Sydney Sixers.
