Barack Obama says he allowed Malia’s boyfriend to self-quarantine with the family before the pandemic.

While on the Bill Simmons podcast, former President Barack Obama talked about what it was like for his family during the quarantine, and even mentioned that he let his daughter Malia’s boyfriend stay with them at one point.

In fact, Obama revealed that teaching children to play swords was one of the most fun parts of the experience.

“Maybe teach Malia and Sasha, and Malia’s boyfriend who was with us for a while, swords and then have some sword games,” he said.

“And teach them how to speak badly in the proper way and throw the cards.”

Obama jokingly said that he didn’t want her to like Malia’s boyfriend, but that she really did like him after all the family time together.

“There was this whole visa thing, he had an established job, so we took it,” Obama said. “And I didn’t want to like him, but he’s a good boy.”

He went on to speak with Bill about how grateful he was to be able to spend time with his family and be together during such a difficult time for many with COVID-19 running rampant.

“It’s a blessing because all the teenage stuff is gone. They just got back and they love you again and they want to spend time with you again, “he said.

“I think we went through a lot of families that first month where we played every night, did craft projects, and then little by little they started to get a little bored with us.”
