One person is seriously injured after a vehicle hit a pole and passed through the front window of a business on one of Auckland’s busy streets in central Auckland this morning.

Auckland Transport says the accident closed Anzac Ave between Parliament and Short Sts after the accident.

Police said a vehicle had hit a pole.

No other vehicles were involved, a spokesperson said.

A spokesman for St John said one person was treated at the scene by an ambulance team and taken to Auckland City Hospital in serious condition.

The accident happened around 10.15 am.

Dramatic footage shortly after the accident shows the vehicle passing through the front of an Anzac Ave business, where it stopped.

Diversions were established for all traffic, including public buses traveling along this stretch of road.

Motorists were warned to avoid the area entirely.
