Motorists face long delays following an accident near the Auckland Harbor Bridge and the NZTA urges commuters to consider using the Northwest Expressway bypass route.

The incident, which involved a car and a motorcycle, is blocking the two north-right lanes between the Fanshawe St and Curran St. ramps.

Auckland Transport has warned passengers to expect delays in bus services due to the accident.

The NZTA road map showed that traffic had jammed up to Spaghetti Junction with the queue moving only at about 4 km / h in parts and a photo showed the long queue of traffic behind it.

“A collision is blocking two lanes from the right heading north in St Marys Bay, before the Akl Harbor Bridge. Pass very carefully and expect delays from Spaghetti Jctn.”

They said two northbound lanes remained open, but advised motorists to allow additional time due to delays in the Spaghetti Junction area and to consider using the Northwestern Expressway if possible.

It was expected to clear by noon according to the NZTA.

A police spokeswoman said police were alerted to the accident at 10:10 a.m. that involved a car and motorcycle. One person had reported moderate to minor injuries.

A tow truck was on the way to clear the vehicles.
