A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Auckland this morning.

Emergency services responded to the serious accident on Green Lane West, in Greenlane, after it was reported that someone had been struck shortly before 11 a.m.

A police spokeswoman said: “The person is in critical condition and will be transferred to Auckland (City) Hospital.”

The road is closed between Whetūrangi Rd and Great South Rd.

Motorists are told to avoid the area or expect “significant” delays.

The Serious Accident Unit has also been notified.
