Traffic has accumulated on Auckland’s South Highway after an accident near the Khyber Pass exit ramp.
Police and emergency services were called about the accident in the northbound lanes around 1.30 pm.
One person suffered moderate injuries.
Three of the northbound lanes were blocked for about an hour after the accident, causing heavy congestion, but have now been reopened.
Police and the NZTA are advising motorists to avoid the area and expect delays as congestion subsides.
Auckland’s traffic has already been hampered by the closure of the Harbor Bridge lanes in both directions following last week’s truck accident.
FINAL UPDATE 2:40 PM
All lanes are now OPEN (northbound) near the Khyber Pass exit ramp on Southern Mwy, thanks to the work of emergency services on site. Expect delays as congestion subsides in the area. ^ MF https://t.co/XvFyOy8Dn0– NZTA Auckland and Northland One Boat September 22, 2020
