The laces have been lifted and people are allowed to return to Auckland Airport’s domestic passenger terminal after it was evacuated on Sunday morning.
Police said the area had been cordoned off after 9 a.m. as a precaution after a concerning item was discovered in a bathroom.

A man who was supposed to fly at 10 a.m. said they were all told to evacuate, with no information on why.

However, shortly after 11 a.m., the police confirmed that the cords had been lifted and that people were being allowed to return.

A spokesman for Auckland Airport said the terminal was evacuated at 9.40am while police investigated reports of a serious package.
“Passengers are now being readmitted to the terminal,” he said.
