Bags, sunglasses, wallets and tools were among the items recovered by police after a series of robberies in the Western Bay of Plenty area.

Four people have been arrested following a series of car purse thefts in the Western Bay of Plenty area.

Police have executed a series of search warrants in Greerton, Pyes Pa, Welcome Bay, Papamoa, Bethlehem and Athentree.

The arrest warrants were linked to a series of car thefts, which occurred over several recent weeks in the Western Bay of Plenty area.

Those responsible would steal valuable items but they targeted wallets and used the cards to purchase items across Western Bay, fraudulently buying thousands of dollars worth of goods with paywave cards.
