Shots were heard on Hokonui Drive in Gore Thursday night, prompting a call from the Armed Criminal Squad.

Sergeant Major Cynthia Fairley said local personnel and the Armed Criminal Squad conducted a search of residential property and confiscated some items of interest.

Two people received minor injuries that were not related to a firearm, he said.

No arrests have been made.

“We appreciate that this incident has been disturbing to the residents of the area and we are making further inquiries to understand the circumstances,” he said.

A Gore resident said she was woken up by two loud noises, which she thought were explosions, around 10 p.m. Later, she heard the town’s fire siren sound.
