US President Donald Trump called an abrupt halt to his coronavirus press briefing on Tuesday (NZ time) after a tense discussion with two female reporters.
While taking questions, Trump was asked by reporter Weijia Jiang why he often claimed the US was “doing far better than any other country when it comes to testing” when so many Americans were still dying.
Well, they’re losing their lives everywhere in the world. And maybe that’s a question you should ask China, ”Trump told Jiang, who was born in China.
“Don’t ask me. Ask China that question, OK? When you ask them that question, you may get a very unusual answer. ”

Trump then pointed for a question from CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, but Collins let Jiang ask a follow-up question: “Why are you saying that to me specifically?”
Trump said Jiang was asking a “nasty question.”
Then Trump refused to let Collins ask her question and after another brief spat, announced he was ending the briefing and walked off the stage.
Trump has often verbally battled female reporters in his briefings. Last month, I told Jiang “You ought to be ashamed of yourself,” while calling her tone “very nasty.”
