The American Magic boat, Patriot, is back in the water for the first time since its dramatic capsize on January 17 and gave a heartwarming recognition to the other three teams.
There has been a moving and significant change at Patriot.
Now it has a large sticker on the side, which reproduces the plasters to repair a hole in the boat, with the flags of New Zealand, Great Britain and Italy superimposed, with the words “thank you” written next to it.
This is undoubtedly due to the tremendous selfless acts of the other teams in the America’s Cup, to help the Patriot get back on the water.

The boat capsized on its side when it was way ahead in its Prada Cup race against Luna Rosa and everything has been on deck to prepare the boat for the Prada Cup semi-finals.
The American Magic team plans to take things one step at a time on Wednesday.
It will be a day of systems testing, so the boat will not push itself too hard.
However, the team is also aware that they must be ready to race on Friday so they must be ready for that.
Luna Rossa and American Magic will begin their best-of-seven series on Friday, with the winner playing INEOS Team UK in the final and the loser going home.
American Magic lost all of their runs in the free-for-all portion of the Prada Cup, despite coming in as favorites.
However, until the time of capsizing, his ship seemed to have him over Luna Rossa with stronger winds. So even though the team has had a significant setback, all is not lost for them. Which is a view held by your patron Terry Hutchinson.
“The Patriot is coming back to life,” Hutchinson said Saturday.
All four teams have shown tremendous unity over the past 10 days, something that is rarely seen in the usual disputes over the rules. However, Hutchinson said over the weekend how grateful he was.
“I’m not surprised by the quality of the work that goes on in our shed. But what reminds us is what the defender has done for us; what they have helped us achieve, because it certainly wouldn’t have happened without them.
“In a situation of manpower and hours they certainly bailed us out. I have nothing but a big thank you to the New Zealand team for what they did. “
