There was good news and bad news for INEOS Team UK in the first round of the America’s Cup on Tuesday.

Ben Ainslie’s team finally managed to complete a test, after being absent for the last week due to a gear failure.

But Britannia ll still looked bad off the pace, after a good start, and seemed to be struggling to achieve optimal lift and speed on the foils.

At around 10 knots, Ainslie won the start against Dean Barker and American Magic, perfectly timing his run to the line.

But shortly after, the British were forced to veer, as the Americans picked up speed on the other side of the course.

It was a bit ungainly, and the British didn’t come close again as Patriot pulled away, although both teams seemed to be concentrating on their own maneuvers in the second leg.

Just yesterday Team UK had to be towed back to their base after canceling their test run against Team NZ shortly after completing a single jibe.

The mysterious issues plaguing the British team have yet to be discussed, as it quickly turns into the most intriguing story in preparation for the World Series later this week.
