A car rolled over on the South Highway causing traffic delays for motorists during rush hour.

Police are now trying to locate a fleeing driver.

The accident, heading north near Otahuhu, occurred at 5.42 am when a vehicle crossed two lanes, causing two other cars to collide, one of which flipped over, police said.

The vehicle that crossed the two lanes left the scene and the police are trying to locate the driver.

No one has been seriously injured.

All three lanes are open but there are delays for motorists.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said travel times on State Highway 1 are “significantly higher.” He asked motorists to consider traveling from Manukau to the city via SH20 / 16.

Earlier, NZTA said an accident is blocking a lane on SH1, currently south of Wellsford. Motorists were asked to delay their trip until more time was allowed or allowed.

There was also a damage to the Harbor Bridge that blocked a northbound lane.
