A person in serious condition after a bulldozer rolled into Hawke’s Bay

A patient is in serious condition after a bulldozer rolled across farmland in the Hawke’s Bay settlement in Te Hāroto.

A spokesman for St John’s ambulance confirmed the patient’s condition and that they were taken to Rotorua Hospital by helicopter.

A Worksafe spokesperson said the person appeared to have been trapped under an excavator after it rolled. “We are doing initial consultations to establish what our next steps could be.”

The accident occurred on farmland along State Highway 5.

A police spokesman confirmed that they had been called to the scene at 3.50 pm and that one person had been trapped as a result of the accident.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson confirmed they were at the scene.
