Melbourne truck pushes car 750 meters down the highway, both drivers unscathed

A shocking video has captured scary scenes on a Melbourne freeway after a truck pushed a small car at least 750m down the road as the car’s driver feared for his life and viewers desperately tried to get the truck’s attention.

The truck driver says he had no idea he was pushing the car during the incident, which unfolded on Melbourne’s Western Ring Road last Friday.

“He had 22 tons of wool on board. You can’t feel it when you hit something,” driver Steve O’Dea told A Current Affair of Australia.

“I put my indicator on, I checked my mirrors, I checked my little mirror through the door and I couldn’t see a thing,” he said.

O’Dea, a 40-year veteran of truck driving, said he regretted the incident, which left him “in shock.”

The driver of the car, Kelly Bubeck, told Nine News that she feared for her life when her car was pushed down the highway.

“All I think about is my daughter and my husband,” she said.

“I’m thinking, ‘I’m not dying today. This is not so.'”

Bubeck, an elderly worker, said she desperately tried to activate the voice-controlled phone in her car to call emergency services, but the system could not understand her.

Other motorists, honking the horn and turning on their lights, finally got the driver to stop and O’Dea got out to check the car.

“When I stopped the car, I opened the door and got out, I yelled ” You almost wiped me out, ” Bubeck said.

“He turned around and looked at me and ‘oh, for God’s sake!’ These are the only words he said.”

Police attended the incident and said that no crimes had been committed.
