The young Tonumaipea has a new mission to the Titans after his recent trip from Berlin to the Gold Coast, through Melbourne.
The 27-year-old has signed a train and trial contract with the Gold Coast after completing a two-year Mormon mission mission in Germany.
The Samoa international, who played 43 NRL games for Melbourne, is a great opportunity to secure a permanent deal with the Titans after England international Kallum Watkins recently got a pitch from the club for family reasons.
Tonumaipea can play fullback, wing and center in Storm and was the custodian of Samoa in the 2017 World Cup.
He arrived in Australia a month ago and spent 14 days in mandatory quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. After making the long journey to the Gold Coast from Melbourne by car, he said he was now ready to take advantage of an “incredible opportunity” after a life-changing experience in Germany.
“It’s kind of weird. I’ve been gone for a couple of years and I’m going back to all this COVID-19, but I’m thankful for this opportunity that the Gold Coast Titans have given me,” he told the Titans. website.
“Serving on the mission in Germany was an incredible experience and something I am very proud of. I learned many new lessons that I will bring to the Gold Coast Titans.”
“The experience helped me grow and I have a different perspective on life.”
Tonumaipea will meet with former Storm teammate and Titans captain Kevin Proctor and is determined to secure a new permanent deal. Steadily entering the paddock will be the key to your long-term future.
“Obviously, I know what a rugby league is and the challenge that comes with it. This is a completely different system than the Melbourne Storm, but I will do my best and adapt to what the coach needs me to do.”
“I am looking for a place this year and I am definitely trying to join the team this year.”
