Grey’s Anatomy star reveals the truth about iconic scene between Meredith and Derek

The Grey’s Anatomy star has revealed what she really thought about one of the show’s most memorable scenes.

The hit medical drama, which has been running for 16 seasons since 2005, is a money machine for parent company Disney, as one of the oldest scripted shows ever to be broadcast on television.

And one of its central stars, Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Gray, takes a big bite out of that cherry, earning a report of $ 575,000 ($ 950,000) per episode, along with an additional seven-figure signing bonus and two full equity points, estimated to bring another $ 6 to $ 7 million.

But that doesn’t mean that he necessarily agrees with all the stories, reports news.com.au.

Speaking about his career before Grey’s, Pompeo told Variety that he accepted the role of Meredith because he felt he had more substance than other roles he had been offered.

“I recognized that the roles in the movie they offered me were all girlfriends and kind of like the girl in the movie with little to do,” he said.

“And (when) I read the pilot, I recognized, ‘Wow, this is a female lead, with a career.’ I didn’t see a lot of those parts, so I recognized that.”

But one particular iconic scene from the series made her question what she thought of the role, which sees her character plead with Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) to leave his wife for her in episode five of the second season.

“His journey to get powerful was not really that obvious to me,” he said.

“I have a different perspective, and maybe people will see the beginning of the program as more stimulating than me.”

“But that, ‘Choose me, choose me, love me’ (line), I was like, ‘Why am I begging a man to love me?’ For me, that’s not an enhancer. “

Grey’s Anatomy is currently in its 16th season, which has stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic. It has also been renewed for a 17th season.
