A nurse in her 20s, who worked at a senior care facility in Christchurch, was classified as a confirmed case of Covid-19 on Friday.

An investigation into how CDHB staff became ill with Covid-19 found that the staff, busy moving residents from Rosewood to Burwood, had not changed their PPE often enough.

“Wet masks are believed to be the source of the rape. Some staff members reported that their PPE had become damp with the physical exertion that occurred for a few hours that day,” CDHB Incident Controller Dra previously said. Sue Nightingale.

Following the finding, Auditor General John Ryan announced that he had agreed with the ministry to independently review PPE management during the pandemic response.

Monday was the first time in 49 days that a new case of coronavirus had not been reported in New Zealand.

As of Monday, there were 1,487 cases of coronaviruses nationwide. Of these, 1,276 have recovered and four remain in hospital.
