The Taranaki rescue helicopter crew attended the accident on Connett Rd in Bell Block on May 1.
One person died after an accident at Bell Block on Friday night.
Emergency services attended a two-car accident on Connett Rd around 7pm.
New Zealand Central Fire and Emergency Duty Manager Carlos Dempsey said two teams from New Plymouth were dispatched to the scene.
An occupant of one of the cars had been trapped and needed to be cut from the vehicle, he said.
The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust team also assisted and transported an injured occupant, who was then assessed as critically ill, to Waikato Hospital.
A police statement said three other people sustained moderate injuries in the accident.
The Serious Accident Unit is investigating.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, one person received moderate injuries after an accident involving two trucks on State Highway 3 near Awakino.
A police media spokeswoman said the accident was reported around 9:50 a.m., and that a person was initially trapped in one of the vehicles.
The Taranaki rescue helicopter team was dispatched to the scene and airlifted a patient to Waikato Hospital in moderate conditions.
