- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla recently announced that it would feature male and female lead characters.
- The developers felt the need to avoid some form of backlash on the decision.
- Despite the defense of the decision, the reaction appears to be small or non-existent.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is causing a lot of fuss online. People seem excited to be able to put on the boots of a Viking Warrior for the most part. Although, there are some concerns with shifting the stealth series to more direct combat.
Despite this, most of the online discussion seems to be about the game’s female lead. Initially revealed through the Collector’s Edition statue, the news is that the game has the option to play as either a male or female lead character.
You can imagine that this has some annoying people. But does it?
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s female lead is having a lot of discussion
If you take a look at places like Twitter, a fair amount of articles are shared about the character’s genre. The developers apparently felt the need to preemptively defend the decision to include a female character.
In general, you would think that this is because Assassin’s Creed has a great reaction: Valhalla. But, there doesn’t seem to be one. At least, it’s not about the protagonists anyway. Despite the articles defending it, it doesn’t seem like many people really care.
Normally, when a game is turning violent, you expect to see it on social media. That is not really happening with Assasins Creed: Valhalla. Most of the answers are anxious about the game or have a different problem beyond the genre that is postponing them.
Is this being done to drive interaction about the game?
For one thing, it’s not difficult to see why Ubisoft may have decided to avoid a backlash. After all, they are no strangers to a backlash to decisions. Especially those that revolve around Assassin’s Creed.
This time, however, any reaction that has worried them seems to be minimal. Beyond some Reddit posts and some threads removed on TwitterIt seems that no one says the female lead in Valhall is a bad thing.
At most, you’ll find one post in many hundreds who don’t seem to think it’s a problem. Maybe it’s time to ask the question of whether or not the reaction is being faked for more posts and tweets.
