Man accused of murdering a woman on Mt Roskill

A 29-year-old man was charged with murdering a woman in the Auckland suburb of Mt Roskill.

The woman was found seriously injured on May Rd on Mt Roskill shortly after 7:30 this morning.

“Despite all the efforts of emergency services personnel, he unfortunately died at the scene,” said Detective Sergeant Major Scott Armstrong.

The man and woman knew each other, Armstrong said.

Police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder and said they had no continuing concerns for public safety.

Police were still conducting a crime scene examination and the victim was expected to undergo an autopsy tomorrow.

The man will appear tomorrow in Auckland District Court accused of murder.

The woman would need to be formally identified before police named the man, Armstrong said.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family at this absolutely tragic time,” he said.

The support of the police and victims would give them the greatest possible support, he said.
