“We want to see as many Kiwi businesses continue and continue to grow as possible.”

In April, MediaWorks asked staff to accept a 15% pay cut.

The company has been classified as an “essential” media business, but it is believed that, like other large media companies, it has been affected by a sharp drop in advertising revenue since the level 4 blockade was announced.

The main beneficiaries of that assistance, which will cost just under $ 22 million, included MediaWorks, along with TVNZ, MediaWorks, Sky Television and Maori Television.

MediaWorks chief commercial officer Glen Kyne Media says free advertising was not risking the company's revenue.

MediaWorks Television received $ 3.6 million for 522 employees through the Government’s Salary Subsidy Plan.

“This is not a group of money that MediaWorks is distributing, rather it is advertising worth $ 20 million. The government’s media aid package is a positive step, but we still have a long way to go in the coming months.” .

“Obviously there has been a huge slowdown in advertising on MediaWorks, which means we have a lot of advertising inventory available.”
