The Backstreet Boys two Auckland shows have been rescheduled at a concert to be held in a year.

Just over two weeks before the ’90s boy band played at Spark Arena on May 16 and 17, promoter Live Nation announced that they had been postponed until April 28, 2021.

Tickets for current shows will be valid for the new date, with full refunds available for those unable to attend.

The Backstreet Boys were due to play Auckland in two weeks.

In a statement, Backstreet Boys said: “We were extremely excited to bring our DNA World Tour to our Kiwi and Australian fans. Unfortunately we have to postpone those dates. Most importantly, everyone is safe now and we will be rescheduling to 2021.

“We love them very much, we hope they stay safe with their loved ones.”

The postponement news will be a relief to Kiwi fans who were upset that Live Nation would not confirm the cancellation of the shows, even when it was clear that Backstreet Boys could not come in May.

“Two weeks away when they’ve had a lot of time to know it’s not good enough,” said one Things.

“They should have done better.”

The Backstreet Boys follow a litany of international acts that have been canceled or postponed since New Zealand closed and closed its borders to try to stop the spread of the coronavirus, including Lenny Kravitz, Alanis Morissette, My Chemical Romance, Patti Smith, and Violent. Femmes.
