Preamble
Well, isn’t this unusual? It’s been a while since Australia was pushed into a decisive T20. The first of a two-sided series since 2017, in fact, when they lost the Ashes’ 20-plus stretch (though not the trophy). There hasn’t been a blemish since, with series wins over England, the West Indies, Pakistan and current opponents New Zealand, not to mention two World Cup titles.
So this is strange territory for Meg Lanning’s side, who blew the cobwebs out of quarantine by winning game one, thanks in large part to killer tackles from Ashleigh Gardner, before losing by four wickets in game two. It was a final dance thriller to savor for the White Ferns, who really got it out of England a few weeks ago.
Buckle up, here we go!
