“Our thoughts continue to be with his family and the wider Pigeon Mountain Elementary School community at this difficult time,” police said Monday.

Police have banned a 77-year-old man related to the incident from driving.

Police said Monday that no charges had yet been filed and that the investigation is ongoing.

In an earlier message shared on the school’s website, board member Mark Eades and principal Ian Dickinson said the community would be experiencing “a variety of emotions” after the incident.

“Therefore, we must wait, try to understand and support a variety of emotions and behaviors.

“We must support the discussion about the event, the feelings it generates and the ways to respond,” the message said.
