There was a lot to unpack and ponder during tonight’s episode.
Dev gave Moses an emotional and Oscar-worthy goodbye. “I feel like I haven’t made it to the stage where a lot of the girls are yet, so out of respect for you and the girls I think I’d better go home,” he said, but let’s be honest, who doesn’t? Can’t you see it coming?
Art sent the girls on their way without the rose ceremony, and the next day Negin finally got his only date. To say that she was crazy would be an understatement.
“Do people kiss on the first date? I think it’s one thing right now.” SAY AH. Oh, Negin.
Moses took her sailing and there was a super awkward hug / high-five situation that I know many of you may have shrugged off, but honestly, I thought it was cute and showed how excited I was.
In the mansion, there were passive-aggressive roommate vibes floating around. Chanel asked Lydia to do the dishes and Lydia said she preferred to wash her makeup brush. Annie proceeded to tell Lydia, “your roots look like shit.” We weren’t prepared for what was to come after the insult of the season so far. I hate doing dishes as much as anyone else, but this was a lot to handle.
Annie tackled Lydia and pushed her face to the ground, causing Lydia to stormy off. Annie realized that she didn’t enjoy wrestling as much as she thought. Giving up on the fight, we saw a softer side to her as she and Lydia had a deep and meaningful conversation. It reminded me of cloudy days in college when you connected with your roommates to find out about the night before.
Moses tried to get inside Negin’s head on the one date, but she wasn’t revealing anything. However, he told the confession chamber: “I may have the feelings. I don’t know.” Sounds like all the overly romantic lovers in history to me.
Sadly, Negin returned to the mansion without roses. Our bachelor holds on to these roses for life, that’s for sure.
Art arrived dressed as a clown to turn those frowns upside down. Lou immediately chose that it was talent show time, but she might have been the only one happy about it. Shenae asked Art for advice on what to do and stood on tiptoe around the idea of juggling until Art crushed her soul saying “it’s not a talent.” Girls shouldn’t have known juggling wasn’t very good at The Bachelorette this year …
The drama from earlier in the episode was not over yet. Annie and Lydia had another chat and Lydia burst into tears, but don’t worry, it wasn’t because Annie tackled her. Emotions were definitely high tonight.
Moses saw Lydia and gave us worried boyfriend vibes as he immediately hugged her into a bear hug and whispered reassuring words to her. Literally, I never felt more single.
Okay, let’s get back to the talent show. Annie kicked off the extravaganza by doing an interpretive dance of her poem which Art read aloud and, obviously, Moses loved it. Lana sang a song and boy was she nervous but she did a fantastic job and everyone was so supportive.
Elsewhere, Lou danced beautifully and Moses used every ounce of control to keep from joining her. I should have, because I think we can all agree if they had danced together, it would have been the highlight of the episode.
Lana and Annie won the talent show and time with Moses, but despite Moses’ jokes, Lana did not have a 3-way bar and asked to split the time.
The time my heart touched in all directions when Annie told Moses that she battled anorexia when she was 18 and kept her from dancing for a while and then Lana told Moses her first boyfriend died when they were 17 and she fought. to find his way back from that dark time in his life.
Oh my God. What are you two doing to me? This is too much.
At the cocktail party, Annie was cautious again, keeping the details of their face-to-face secret while Lana felt disconnected from Moses. He must have felt the same way because he pushed her away again. They held hands and snuggled into each other and when all was said and done, Lana felt so much better.
Phew. The snuggles fix everything, I swear.
Moses knew Lydia was feeling depressed so he reached over to try to cheer her up but accidentally made her relive all the shame of accidentally showing it so it wasn’t great.
And instead of learning from his mistake, he went in to spend time with the girls * coughs Annie coughs * and annoyed everyone by saying “I could get to the end and then the conversations had and I don’t really want to be with anyone.” , read the room.
“The chance of it being an Art and Matilda is small,” Annie told the confession chamber. “I just want that, that’s all.”
We all want to find love as strong as New Zealand’s first single couple, Annie.
And the episode ended with a million dollar question from Lydia: “If they give me a rose, will I accept it or not?”
