Judith Collins said her caucus is not required to read the report analyzing her defeat in the 2020 election.
National MPs are not required to read the report of their internal electoral review, confirms party leader Judith Collins.
Talking to Newshub Nation On Saturday, Collins explained that the party’s 2020 election defeat report has been made available to all, but caucus deputies are not required to read it.
“I’m not going to stand there and tell people, chain them to a table and tell them to read it. I treat people like adults. “

Collins said that everyone in his group had the “ability” to read the report, which focused on the party’s campaign, yet not everyone chose to read it.
“Everyone in that caucus knows exactly what went wrong in that campaign,” he said. Newshub Nation.
The review analyzed “the internal, social and economic strategic challenges and opportunities facing the National Party in the next term” and provided recommendations for the next campaign.
While the report has not been released, Collins deemed it “commercially sensitive,” sources familiar with it said. Other recommendations reportedly included having an “absolute focus” on diversity and selecting candidates from a variety of backgrounds.

The recommendations reportedly mirror those outlined in another recent report on former leader Jim McLay’s party.

When asked why the report will not be released publicly, Collins cited its possible use by opponents in his party.

Before national deputies had access to the report, an email was sent to party members explaining that the report found that “disunity, leaks and bad behavior” were the main causes of the electoral defeat.
