Meghan Markle is reportedly communicating with senior members of the United States Democratic Party and hopes to further her ambitions to become the first female president of the United States.

The Duchess of Sussex has long had political ambitions and, according to sources close to her, she hopes her interview with Oprah Winfrey will cement support for her in the country.

Sources told the Mail on Sunday newspaper that Markle is reaching out to Democrats to create fundraising teams for a presidential campaign.

“The networks of the Blairite, Internationalist and Democratic parties are full of conversations about Meghan’s political ambitions and possible backers,” the source told the newspaper.

The 39-year-old Duchess is reportedly targeting the 2024 campaign, should incumbent President Joe Biden decide not to run for a second term.

Markle’s biographer Omid Scobie has previously spoken about her political ambitions and how the former actress has “her eyes on the US presidency.”

“Meghan is the embodiment of the American dream. One day we may see Meghan become president,” the author of “Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan And The Making Of A Modern Royal Family” said in a documentary.

In an interview with Vanity Fair last year, a friend of Markle’s told the magazine that she would “seriously consider running for president.”

“One of the reasons she was so willing not to give up her US citizenship was so that she would have the option to pursue politics,” said the friend.

However, another of Markle’s biographers said the Duchess does not have “the skin of a rhino to run.”

“I would categorically say that she has no chance of running for president. She will be eaten alive,” biographer Andrew Morton, author of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, previously told Vanity Fair.
