Armed police are surrounding a home in Christchurch after one person was stabbed and another robbed at knife point.

Police responded to reports of a robbery on Ensors Rd, Waltham, around 4 p.m. Monday.

One person was threatened with a knife and his phone was taken from him.

Soon after, police received a second report of an assault at Isabella Place, where a person was stabbed and seriously injured, a police spokeswoman said.

The injured person was taken to Christchurch Hospital, a St John spokesman said.

The police spokeswoman said they were making inquiries to find and arrest the alleged offender.
