There have been tears, epic dates and shocking outings at The Bachelorette and now Lexie Brown has selected their winner.

It was an emotional episode for the last two singles Hamish Boyt and Todd Dialects, as each man tried to impress Lexie during their respective fantasy dates.

Dressed in a stunning black tulle layered gown, the bridal shower was overwhelmed with excitement as she delivered her latest rose. At the beginning of the episode, he had chosen not to spend the night with any of the singles after their fantasy date.

Combining Boyt with her wit, Lexie, 31, marked the moment with a dramatic pause before handing the travel photographer her last rose.

“There’s something I keep tripping over with you. I don’t know if I can trust … that you really know how to catch snapper,” he said, and in that moment Hamish knew he had won. your heart. The excavation was in reference to Boyt’s failure to catch a fish during his date with her in his hometown, Whangārei.

“I want to spend the summer on a boat with you,” he said, and Hamish realized that Lexie had chosen him.

“I want to go on adventures with you, I hope you feel the same because I know what I want now,” he said. “And I love you.”

Hamish, 30, reacted in typical kiwi fashion: “Shit.”

After a romantic kiss, the happy couple set off on their next fishing adventure.

Australian sales manager Todd, 26, was devastated when Lexie told him that her heart went out to another man. He was shown crying off-camera and said that Lexie’s rejection was “one of the hardest things” he had ever heard.

Bachelorette viewers may not have been surprised by Lexie’s choice in the final episode. Boyt had greatly impressed his family, as Lexie’s mother declared that she loved Hamish during the home visit.

Ultimately, the decision fell on Lexie and who she thought she could see a future with.

Wellington-based Bachelorette worried that Todd might be too attached to his family on the other side of the ditch, not wanting to settle permanently in New Zealand. For Lexie, who is eager to start a family, she knew in her heart that Hamish was closely aligned with her life plan.

“It feels like something that only we understand, and that feels really special,” Lexie said, speaking about the connection between her and Hamish during the parting words at the end of the show.

Despite Hamish’s win, it’s a bittersweet ending to the reality show. His best friend Joe Weck was also one of the singles this season and chose to leave the competition before a rose ceremony. It remains to be seen if their friendship has survived the competition.

How Hamish and Lexie’s romance blossomed

Boyt was a quiet contender when he first hit the homecoming red carpet. Lexie laughed at his thick kiwi accent when he presented her with a photo with a framed drone.

His first date with Lexie saw the couple zip-lining and relaxing together in a winery. It was on this date that he made it known that he wanted a big family, that it was music to Lexie’s ears.

Hamish was determined to have more alone time with Lexie, and after a group ice hockey date he threw the intruder Jesse under the bus. She told him she was concerned about Jesse’s impression that Lexie liked to party, perhaps giving her the impression that he was serious about a future with her.

It was an extreme heli-boarding date that took their spark to new heights, and the couple shared a romantic kiss as they took a dip in a secluded lake.

During home visits, Lexie met Hamish’s family and they were quite impressed with their charm and how they were together. Despite a less-than-successful fishing trip earlier in the day, viewers could feel that the couple were getting comfortable together and fitting in well with each other’s family life.

The real test was when it was Hamish’s turn to meet Lexie’s parents. They were immediately bonded out of a shared love of fishing, and got Lexie’s dad’s approval when he brought his plate of homemade fish to the barbecue.

On the fantasy date, Lexie invited Hamish out for a relaxing massage date. Although her massage skills left much to be desired, the romantic bath they shared proved to viewers that the bachelorette party had probably made its decision.
