Another new community case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in Auckland.
On Sunday night, the Health Ministry announced that a person related to the February 2021 cluster of infections had tested positive for the virus.
The person is not a returnee but has been in the Jet Park quarantine facility in Māngere the entire time which has been contagious because he is a family contact from four other previously confirmed cases: Cases I, J, K and L.
The new case, referred to as Case O, exhibited the first symptoms of Covid-19 on Saturday, the ministry said in a statement. The person tested positive Sunday afternoon after the 1pm media update of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Chief Health Officer Dr. Ashley Bloomfield ended.

Case O is the first case found in the community since two other cases, Cases M and N, confirmed on Saturday, prompted the government to put Auckland at lockdown level 3 and move the rest of New Zealand to alert level. two.
Two other cases, both in managed isolation, were confirmed Sunday.
The ministry said that since Case O had been quarantined as a precautionary measure, there was no risk to the public that the virus had been transmitted and there were no new locations of interest.
Genome sequencing will be carried out to determine if Case O is linked to the other cases in the group.
Preliminary whole genome sequencing results for Case N, the second of two cases announced on Saturday, confirmed that it was similar to Case M and related to the current outbreak.
A link had also been established between Case M and another in the group.
