It is understood that a young man received injuries to the face as a result of the shooting.
The police investigation into a shooting in Northcote on Friday night continues, and a teenager is believed to have sustained injuries to the face.
Police were alerted to the shooting on Auckland’s north shore at around 7pm.
“Upon attending, it was established that a person had been taken to North Shore Hospital with a gunshot wound,” said a police spokeswoman.
The victim was in stable condition last night.
However, there is concern that the victim, understood as a teenager, may have lost all or part of his or her sight as a result of facial injuries.

Members of the boy’s family posted on social media this morning. His mother praised the actions of her son’s friends who brought him to the hospital, instead of fleeing the scene.
But, he said, he has lost his sight in his “sure” left eye and “time will tell if he is blind in his right eye.”
Police have yet to provide an update on the circumstances of the shooting.
According to the boys’ aunt, the victim is 16 years old. He also posted that he had suffered facial injuries from a gunshot while on the local basketball court.
Northcote MP Shanan Halbert said he understood Northcote residents would be concerned about the incident.
He was speaking to Waitematā Police Area Commander Simon Walker about the incident and offering support to local residents.
“My biggest concern is that our community stays informed as the investigation continues so that we can rest easy,” he said.
“Northcote is a very close-knit community and we will work on this incident together in due course.”
