American Airlines is reportedly forwarding any UFO-related inquiries to the FBI after reports emerged that one of the airline’s pilots had come across a mysterious flying object on Sunday.

The pilot reportedly spotted the UFO in the skies over New Mexico during a flight Sunday afternoon.

The airline “refuses to deny” the reports of the sighting and has referred all inquiries to the FBI.

The UFO was reportedly spotted by the pilot of Flight 2292 en route to Phoenix, Arizona.

The pilot is said to have contacted ground control by radio and reported a “long, cylindrical object”.

Blogger Steve Douglass recorded the broadcast, which has been verified by American Airlines.

“Something happened above us. I hate to say this, but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like some kind of cruise missile moving very fast. It passed over us.” the pilot told ground control.

According to a Fox News report, the UFO could have come from the New Mexico-based White Sands Missile Range.

The sighting is the latest in a series of UFOs reported in the area over the years.

In 2014 and 2015, US Navy pilots saw multiple UFOs traveling at hypersonic speeds in the area. The US military called these sightings “inexplicable aerial phenomena” and the mystery that surrounds them remains.
