Bachelorette NZ Season Two Episode 11 recap: Lexie staggers into the man of her dreams, but has she caught the right fish?

I bring you a special edition of The Bachelorette summary because things are getting on the edge and too much is happening that we need to discuss.

On tonight’s episode the boys met the parents, there was a dramatic outing, and too many awkward fishing moments to count.

First of all, we need to talk about the man of the moment, Joe. The one who tore his ligament and was forced to limp on crutches while his best friend Hamish stole his dream date. Joe, who had the first date of the season with Lexie. Joe, who feels very conflicted about his time with Lexie. Joe, who had to watch Hamish come in and steal the show.

He could sense something was up in the last episode, so Joe did what he wanted to do all season long: question Lexie about her true intentions.

It had been bubbling to the surface since the quick date, and now he decided not to take prisoners and just say what he wanted. What good is a rose ceremony when you can dive in before you get pushed?

When we left him last week, he shed a few tears while trying to be honest with him about how he felt.

“Are you excited to continue or are you ready to give up?” The question.

And that’s when Lexie blurted out her most unfortunate metaphor of the season yet, likening her time with Joe to a rollercoaster ride. Dr. Ashley Bloomfield is shaking in his boots: Last week he compared the Covid-19 pandemic to a roller coaster ride that we didn’t actually buy a ticket for.

I don’t think Lexie wants their relationship to be like the corkscrew in Rainbows End.
A damning comparison, and with that his voluntary departure was sealed. There is only one boy left from Whangārei, and it is unknown whether Joe and Hamish’s friendship will survive this.

We are at the point of the season when the rose ceremony makes no sense. They are all so attached to Lexie and fear rejection (I don’t blame them, to be honest this seems like a terrible time, but at least they have free beer) that they are willing to sacrifice before having to face Lexie. lower them gently. On the one hand, they are making her life easier, but on the other, they are taking control of Lexie.

The bachelorette party has some insanely tough decisions to make right now, and if I were in his place, I would have pulled out the pros and cons spreadsheet long ago.

Poor Paul was sent home despite the extra outing because there’s no way Art Green will miss out on a dramatic pause and a comforting smile for the fallen man.

If only Lexie’s words were comforting to our favorite chef: “It’s really hard to send Paul home, he’s such a guy. I hope we can be friends after this, really.” #JusticiaPaul.

Meanwhile, our favorite Aussie Todd was shocked that he made the cut. “I’m confused, happy, and sad at the same time,” he said, pulling out his favorite Taylor Swift lyrics to truly describe his deepest feelings.

The reality show has now turned into a Bledisloe Cup match and frankly I’m very much here for the transtasman rivalry.

And so the battle began, in Lexie’s homeland of Whakatane. They introduced us to the real stars of the show: Lexie’s grandparents and her dad, which shows that the best parts of reality show like this are the awkward family introductions.

Lexie’s Nan and Pop are, simply put, absolute legends. Pop in his All Blacks cap drew a solid line on the sandy beach for Todd, who impressed with his fishing skills but was immensely disappointed with his admission that he is a supporter of the Wallabies. Todd, listen: all men must make sacrifices in the name of love, and if that means burning the scarf of the Australian rugby team, so be it.

This whole trip played perfectly on Hamish’s strengths: fishing and pranks. The laughing boy did his best: catching something on his day off and finding the best raw fish recipe he could find. But did you forget that the only person you really need to catch is Lexie herself?

Both men absolutely nailed their family visits, even though it looked like Todd was about to have a nervous breakdown at the family barbecue. However, it was Hamish who emerged with the most glowing reviews. He was convinced he had it in the bag when Lexie first introduced him to her mother, and even more so when her blasphemous request for “coffee” from a hot chocolate was overlooked with this quick aside from ‘Mish: “I’m too hyperactive as it is, so I’ll have a hot chocolate all I want. ” Do I need to mention that Lexie’s mom admits she “loves” Hamish?

But there was a tough nut to crack in this episode: Lexie’s dad. And in my opinion, he is firmly the Hamish team, because he asked if he was “willing to try.” It “is” a relationship with your daughter. This was the Kiwi guy who spoke for “I give my blessing.”

“Any man who brings food to the table is a good man,” he tells Lexie.

Who is the favorite?

There were two key moments in the episodes that gave us the biggest clue as to where Lexie’s heart is: the first was Todd and Hamish’s conversations with Sarah the mole, who reprises her role excellently in this episode with some questioning. The second is the gifts Lexie gave them.

She spoke with Todd about his personality and why he flew so under the radar in the beginning, and Todd asks Sarah why Lexie has been single. And her talk with Hamish was based on her undercover conversations in the car with him at the beginning of the show, when he admitted that he liked to take it easy. It’s hard to say who the winner of these conversations was, but Sarah seemed to prefer Todd in my opinion.

The gift she gave Todd: a box of Kiwiana treats. A parting gift if I ever saw one, to be honest. Hamish received a framed photo of her helicopter boarding date, because Lexie is ready for that photo to hang on her wall forever. What gift screams relationship with you? My bet is firmly in the photo.

At this point, I wanted to let Lexie send Todd home and crown Hamish the winner, just to save us the emotional turmoil from next week’s episode. But then Lexie’s conversation with Sarah threw everything she thought she knew about her feelings out the window.

“Just because you’re cool with my family doesn’t mean you’re the one for me,” Lexie says. So what is the truth, Lexie?
