Police are pursuing this man following the unprovoked assault in the Christchurch CBD on Sunday.
Police are hunting down a Mongrel Mob gang member after a morning assault in Christchurch’s financial district left a man seriously injured.
Agents were called in to receive reports of an “unprovoked attack” in Oxford Tce around 1am Sunday.
Detective Sergeant Nicola Reeves said a man was hit by another man, causing the victim to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.
“The victim lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital where he remains,” he said.

“The assailant was one of a Mongrel Mob group that was socializing in the city at the time.
“(He) is described as a Maori with tattoos on his arms, dressed in black clothes, a black hat and a red scarf wrapped around his wrist.”

Given the large number of people in the area at the time, police believe members of the public may have videos or photographs of the assault or the assailant, he said.
Dozens of members of the Mighty Mongrel Mob Barbarian MC arrived in the South Island on Friday as part of a national gathering over the weekend.
