Dallas Cowboys owner and billionaire Jerry Jones has come under fire on Twitter after claiming his club “set the world attendance record” amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the quote, tweeted by Cowboys reporter Michael Gehlken, Jones boasted of his NFL average attendance of 27,377 in 2020.

But Twitter users were quick to point out its inaccuracy.

Posting a link to an article from Eden Park’s crowd of 47,000 at the second match of the Bledisloe Cup last year, one user wrote: “Strange flexibility. Plus, it’s nowhere near. Comfortably beaten by a country that has been managed that way better. “

Another wrote: “Yes, we had almost 50,000 in our stadiums in New Zealand for the rugby season, so it’s not very close to that record.”

It’s not the only part of Jones’s comments that fans made.

Many expressed their disgust at his boasting about a “stupid look of the season.”

“Don’t you expect Jerry to brag about making the most money this year? Especially when he’s the most important and the only thing he can brag about this season. He’s a narcissistic billionaire,” wrote one user.

“The only thing he can win. What a fucking joke. Jerry’s streak of mediocrity remains intact and strong! One of the worst franchises in 25 years. Nothing was done without Jimmy. Well done, Jerry!” wrote another.
