Corey Webster has managed to see the funny side of his kitchen accident that has ruled the Breakers’ start-of-season guard ANBL from the Breakers.
Webster required surgery after cutting a nerve in his left hand that does not shoot with a knife while trying to cut an avocado.

Corey Webster lost feeling in one of his fingers after an accident in the kitchen.
After struggling to remove the hole with his usual method, Webster said he tried improvising, which is where things went wrong.
“It wasn’t working, so I decided to stab it and it just went all the way,” he said.

“I’m not Gordon Ramsay, obviously.
“I cut the nerve that goes down this ring finger, so I have no sensation on the inside. However, I have sensation on this side (the outer part of the finger), and there is a tingling up here (fingertip ), so I take it as a good sign and the nerves are starting to grow again. “

Corey Webster is expected to miss the Breakers’ first two games.
It’s a frustrating setback for Webster, who faces another three weeks on the bench and is expected to miss the first two games of the Breakers’ season, which begins Jan. 15. Although that could still change as Australia battles multiple Covid-19 outbreaks.
But the 32-year-old couldn’t help but laugh after hotel staff left him a reminder of his unfortunate mishap when he returned from the hospital.
“When I came back from the hospital after surgery the cleaners had cleaned my room but they left the avocado on the bench with the knife and all the blood still in the avocado.
“Not sure why? Maybe just to remember that. It was pretty fun though.”
Meanwhile, imported star Lamar Patterson has reunited with his new teammates for the first time after coming out of quarantine.
Patterson, who replaced last season’s imported standout Scotty Hopson, joined the team in Hobart and after several years playing each other, Webster hopes to share the floor with the former Brisbane Bullets player.
“I’ve played Lamar for a few years,” added Webster. “I played him for the first time in China, probably three or four years ago. And then obviously when he joined the NBL, I had good battles against him.
[He’s a] superstar player in this league. So happy to have him here and go into battle with him this season. “
