There have been seven new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand during the last two days, all of them in managed isolation facilities.

No new cases were reported in the community, the Ministry of Health confirmed today.

The Covid-19 cases reported today were:

A case that arrived on December 14 from the United States. They tested positive for routine tests around day 12 of their stay in controlled isolation and were transferred to the Christchurch quarantine facility.

A case that arrived on December 22 from India. They were a contact for a previously reported case and tested positive on the sixth day of their stay in a managed isolation facility. They have been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

Two cases, which traveled separately, arrived on December 24 from India via the United Arab Emirates. Both tested positive on the third day and were transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

One case arrived on December 24 from the United States. The person tested positive on routine tests around the third day. They have been transferred to the Christchurch quarantine facility.

One case arrived on December 25 from London via Singapore. They were tested on the second day after showing symptoms of Covid-19. They were transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

One case arrived on December 28 from the United States. They were evaluated the first day because they were symptomatic. The person is in the Auckland quarantine facility.

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in New Zealand is 49, after eight previously reported cases were recovered.
