Australian great golfer Greg Norman has tested positive for Covid-19 and has returned to the hospital in the US.

Greg Norman has detailed the severe Covid-19 symptoms that “kicked” him when he returned to the hospital after initially thinking that he had overcome the worst of the virus.

The Australian golf legend, who lives in the United States, revealed a couple of days ago that his Christmas was ruined when he contracted the coronavirus, as was his son Greg Norman Jr. What began as “mild symptoms” quickly escalated and Norman endured pain like never before. .

Sir Bob Charles’s memorabilia are on display at the Shirley Golf Club upstairs in the clubhouse, including the replica of the British Open trophy from his victory at the Open in 1963.

Yesterday, Norman told his 191,000 Instagram followers that he was back in quarantine at home after an initial visit to the emergency room, still experiencing symptoms but at a lesser level.

However, needing two consecutive negative tests to make sure he was on the road to recovery and being able to stay home, Norman’s second test came back positive and he returned to the hospital.

On Instagram Monday, the 65-year-old thanked doctors and staff at the facility where he is being treated in Palm Beach, saying: “Receive an infusion of the Bamlanivimab antibody. The road to full recovery. Hoping to get out later today. “

Norman is in excellent physical shape and in the past has regularly posted photos on social media without his shirt on and explaining his dedicated workout routine.

However, even as someone in good health, COVID-19 struck the golfer in a way that they have never experienced before.

“I’m fit, I’m strong and I have a high tolerance for pain, but this virus kicked me like never before,” Norman wrote on Instagram.

“Muscle and joint pain to another level. Headaches that feel like a chisel running through your head scraping bits each time, fever, muscles that just didn’t want to work like yesterday walking my dog Apollo, my quads and hip flexors just didn’t want to work due to fatigue .

“So my taste failed where beer tastes bad and wine tastes bad. And finally sometimes struggling with the memory of names and things. Then there’s the irritation. “

Norman urged everyone to take the “dire” virus seriously, so that they can avoid the battle he has faced.

“So please take care of yourself. And for those who doubt, do not judge or issue unwarranted comments and opinions. I would not want anyone, not even you, to experience this dreadful virus, ”he said.

“So I ask you to do the right thing, not just for yourself, but also for your family, friends, co-workers, and others around you. I am luckier than most and for that I am grateful and blessed.

“Furthermore, the world is blessed and science has acted and acted like never before in getting a vaccine for everyone to eventually get. Thanks to those people.

“We need our world to be in healthy harmony again so that we can recover economically and with prosperity with millions and millions of people reclaiming their lives.

“God bless those who are infected and may fall unintentionally to this virus. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you. Once you get out of here today back to quarantine. “

A week ago, Norman was playing in the PNC Championship in Florida with Greg Norman Jr. The pair finished ninth in the father-son tournament, two places behind the title-grabbing team of Tiger Woods and his 11-year-old son Charlie.

Norman Jr revealed that he and his partner Michelle also contracted COVID-19, saying that their better half “suffered a severe blow” with “four days of fever, body aches, migraines.”

Norman quarantined himself after returning from the PNC Championship in Florida and tested negative for the coronavirus before and after the event as part of PGA protocols.

However, four days after his isolation, the two-time main winner began to develop symptoms and, on the advice of his doctor, quarantined himself before things got worse enough for Norman to go to the hospital for the first time.
